House Ouranós

Our house Ouranós is located in the old village center of Pitsidia, one of the quiet, original places in the south of Crete. A house with history, built more than 140 years ago, and still characterized today by the idea that good living can be simple, climate-friendly and in harmony with the environment.

Traditional construction methods are combined here. clear forms and a Mediterranean lifestyle to create a place where you can find seclusion and community at the same time.

There are two separate apartments in the Ouranós house: Ouranós Kokkinos and Ouranós Blé. Both share the same attitude and architecture, and yet have their very own character.

What they have in common is their original design, which is deliberately based on the historical building style: thick stone walls, natural materials, well thought-out room layout. What sets them apart is their mood: warm red in the Kokkinos, calm blue in the Blé.

Closeness and retreat, indoors and outdoors

For our guests, Ouranós offers a fine balance of closeness and privacy, togetherness and tranquillity. Ideal for couples, friends or families who want to travel together – and still keep their own rhythm.

Here, life takes place between indoors and outdoors. The apartments open out onto several terraces on different levels: sunny or shady, open or sheltered, with views of the village, the mountains of the Messara plain or the sky above Pitsidia.

The terraces are extensions of the living spaces: places to read, talk, sit and watch. Places where you don’t have to have anything planned.

The house of Ouranós is not a place for haste. It is a house for people who appreciate peace and quiet, appreciate atmosphere and like to reflect on simplicity.
